We all love a happy ending, especially after a long and seemingly torturous path through painful conflict after painful conflict. To finally see the good guys win over the bad guys is one thing, but to achieve a complete moral victory is something else entirely. That is why we wholeheartedly recommend "Return Of The Jedi," the third installment of the original Star Wars trilogy.

Our tale starts out just where the previous one ended, albeit in a different place. Solo, a prisoner of Jabba the Hut, is rescued by his buddies, who kill everybody in the process. Luke, who has advanced his Jedi training, gives a demonstration of his skills through his skillful fighting of a horrendous monster that Jabba keeps solely for the purpose of keeping out intruders. After Han is out of hot water, they continue their mission.

Once again, they separate. Han, Leia and the rest go to the new rebel base to build up their strength, while Luke returns to finish his Jedi training with Yoda. However, Yoda is old, and ill, and Luke sees him breath his last. When he burns Yoda's body, he learns of the secret. Princess Leia is his sister. They were separated at birth to prevent discovery by Darth Vader, their father. Luke returns to his friends.

When they arrive at the rebel base, they learn of yet another, more powerful, death star being constructed. However, this one is much stronger than the previous one, and can destroy planets with much more strength and viciousness. They rebels want to destroy it, but it is being protected by a force field being generated on the planet of Endor.

The fight between imperial and rebel forces ensues as they battle over control of the death star protecting force field generator. A breathtaking chase is undertaken through some huge trees, and the battle is on. Luke knows that in order to become a full fledged Jedi master, he must confront Vader, his arch nemesis. Luke believes that there is still good inside Vader, and he can be turned to the good side.

Finally, the confrontation everybody has been waiting for. Luke is presented to the evil emperor by Darth Vader. Vader would like the emperor to be killed by Luke, so they can rule the galaxy together, as father and son. The emperor would like Luke to replace Vader, as he feels his power of the force is stronger. Luke, however, has other plans. Plans that don't involve death and destruction. And fortunately, Luke's plans are the ones that come out on top. Vader kills the emperor, and just before he dies, Vader turns back to the good side of the force, and all is right again. Good triumphs over evil. and the whole galaxy applauds.

In what is likely the most anticipated, and most successful sequel of recent history, "The Empire Strikes Back," does not disappoint. This movie is filled with the same overriding themes, the same good vs. evil struggles and the same fantastic action sequences that made the first movie so incredibly successful. This story continues along the "hero's journey" motif, and we get to learn a lot more about "The Force." In short, this movie is an absolute must see, and must own DVD.

The movie starts of short time after the previous movie ended. Our heroes are somewhere on this seemingly abandoned ice planet, in an attempt to hide out from the empire, led by none other that Darth Vader, whose situation based on events of the previous movie is now known. We see him bowing down the Emperor himself, and realize he isn't the top dog after all.

It doesn't take long for the empire to find the rebels hideout, and a battle for their escape ensues. Only this time, they split up. To avoid being caught by the evil empire, this is the only thing to do. Han Solo, Princess Leia, and C3PO head for a station run by Han's buddy, while Luke heads off to meet up with some mysterious character, a character that will become one of the most famous fictional characters ever created.

We follow Han And Leia through an asteroid field, and other adventures before they finally arrive on Han's buddies outpost, only to find the empire, including Darth Vader, has arrived before them, and has forced Han's buddy into falling into a trap. It seems that the all powerful Darth Vader is in search of something.

Meanwhile, we see Luke land on some jungle planet out in the middle of nowhere. His ship sinks into a swamp, and he feels he may be in the wrong place. He comes across Yoda, last in a long line of Jedi Knights. He puts Luke through a rigorous training, both mental and physical, teaching him the ways of the force. Some of the most powerful, metaphysical truths of the universe are revealed during the interactions between Luke And Yoda. We also learn that in order to become a true Jedi, Luke must face Vader. Something Yoda fears he is not quite ready for.

Luke, through his growing powers of the force, sense that his friends are in danger, and leaves before his training is complete. We see Ben's ghost appear, and speak with Yoda. They mention that there is "one other" potential Jedi who may save the universe, but we don't know who. Luke arrives at the station where his friends are kept captive, and we learn that this was Darth Vader's plan all along. To take Luke and bring to the emperor. We of course learn the most shocking revelation in all of movie history, but you won't hear it here if you haven't seen this spellbinding film. This is trilogy that you must own. If you can afford it, we recommend the entire box set. This is movie making at its most brilliant.

There are many bad sci-fi movies, and for many years movie addicts even considered Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space" to be the worst movie of all times. But "Plan 9" is still a pretty good movie when compared to "Dünyayi Kurtaran Adam", a film commonly known as "Turkish Star Wars".

The official film poster already indicates how awful this movie must be (it's probably also one of the worst movie posters ever created), and when I first saw it I though it should be a hoax or something alike, as such a silly poster wouldn't likely exist. But this thing is real, and it's so bad that it got what it deserves: cult status!

So here are the facts:

Dünyayi Kurtaran Adam ("The Man Who Saves the World") was released in 1982, while Turkey was in the midst of massive political upheaval. US movies were hard to acquire, and so the stories of popular US movies were more or less copied and remade with turkish actors. As there was no money for expensive settings or special effects they simply bootlegged (copied) original scenes from popular US movies (notably many scenes from the original Star Wars movie) and mixed them with their own material (quite randomly).

The soundtrack is entirely copied from US movies, primarily Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones), Moonraker, Ben Hur, Flash Gordon, Battlestar Galactica, Planet of the Apes, Silent Running and The Black Hole. The story doesn't make much sense, the monsters look absolutely silly, the acting is horrible. Apparently they also wanted it to be a martial arts movie, but the fighting scenes are hilarious.

The story was written by Cüneyt Arkin, a well-known Turkish actor who also played to main character in the movie. It's about the adventures of two comrades, Murat and Ali, whose ships crash on a desert planet. They then have to fight tons of ridiculous monsters and zombies, as well as an evil wizard who wants to defeat the Earth. Ali gets killed, and Murat finds a magic sword he'll need to fight the villains. At a certain point Ali then gets "super-jumping boots" and he starts jumpin'around all the time, which becomes quite annoying after a few minutes... At the end of the movie Ali kills the evil wizard.

The Turkish Star Wars movie has a strong fan base - on 15 December 2006 a sequel was released, but most fans were disappointed as it was more a comedy movie than a sci-fi film (although you may consider the original movie to be an unintentional comedy too...) The available YouTube video shows about 9 minutes of the movie's ending, and I'm sure you haven't seen anything like this before!

The English Dictionary describes a villain as a 'a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot.' The villain will generally be placed in direct opposition to the protagonist, offering an almost complete mirror image to that of the hero. Where the hero of a movie will promote good behaviour and virtue, the villain will seek to disrupt harmony and possess evil characteristics that contradict those of the protagonist.

To create a great movie villain, there are many characteristics that must be incorporated. For the character to fundamentally work as a menacing villain, they must be enigmatic with a sense of mystery surrounding them. Although not all villainous characters will possess this quality, the very best baddies will be almost complete enigmas.

An indifferent and enigmatic villain can be threatening as a villain with an almost cartoon-like evil uniform like Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th. In The Matrix (1999), the army of 'faceless' agents are cold and emotionless and suggest an unbeatable threat with which the hero cannot reason or negotiate.

The all-powerful emotionless villain is portrayed excellently in the X-Files TV series by William B. Davis as the Cigarette Smoking Man. Throughout the series he is constantly in control of the heroes and any attempts to kill him are deemed self-destructive or futile. His power over the protagonists' behaviour is linked to his role in the Syndicate, a mysterious organisation who seemingly are more powerful than the U.S. government.

Cigarette Smoking Man is not the traditional stereotypical villain, as he often hesitates in destroying the hero - Special Agent Fox Mulder. On many occasions, Mulder's life is under threat and Smoking Man regularly prevents the Syndicate from authorising Mulder's murder. His absolute power, suggested by his behaviour towards the show's protagonists, is questioned within his role in the Syndicate as he is often belittled and degraded. However, despite his authority being questioned in these scenes he is till regarded as an obvious force with his control over Mulder's destiny.

A sinister and disturbing persona can often be acquired by a villain when their behaviour is deemed unpredictable and erratic. This is often portrayed in movie villains that are criminally insane such as The Silence of the Lambs' Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Played by Sir Anthony Hopkin, Lecter is a psychiatrist, cannibal murderer with the ability to manipulate and control those around him.

Lecter's power comes from his intelligence and seeming lack of compassion. He uses extreme violence and rarely shows any sign of emotion, which only reinforces his role as a great movie villain. Other characters that have possessed a similar menacing quality are The Shining's Jack Torrance and Psycho's Norman Bates. Although, these two are considerably different in terms of motive, their threat is based primarily upon their lack of self-control.

A lack of self-control may not be the most dominant trait in the next villainous mention, but it is certainly a key aspect. In 1984, The Terminator burst onto movie screens all over the world as a relentless, unstoppable killing machine. This fearless, expressionless villain who will not feel pity or remorse was upgraded for the film's sequel in 1992 when the relatively basic Series 850 Model 101 was outdone by the superior T-1000 model.

T-1000 offers all of the same frightening characteristics of the original Terminator but with an additional ability of shape-shifting. T-1000 is more advanced and so provides a more threatening villain, made from liquid metal and able to mimic various objects including John Connor's foster-parents and his mother. This ability to shape-shift increases T-1000's villainous abilities massively as he is able to manipulate and deceive his victims against their will and judgment.

On the opposite end of the scale are the villains that are emotive, excitable and with exaggerated personas as demonstrated by Heath Ledger's villain in the most-recent Batman film, The Joker. The latest incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime perfectly conveys his lack of empathy and almost-humorous contempt for human life. The most prominent aspect of The Joker is his colourful clothing and unusual physical appearance, with white face make-up, dyed green hair and smudged red lipstick.

The cartoon origins of the character lend themselves well to the movie villain, as his appearance is funny and appealing superficially. This technique is also used in other creations such as Stephen King's It and Chucky in Child's Play. These villains will play on children's trust as they emotionally shape-shift from a friendly face to a horrific villain.

Among the characteristics of the perfect villain, the key component is absolute evil without any redeeming features. This is rare in movie villains as often the antagonist is usually a tortured soul, abuse victim or in extremely weak films a misunderstood character. However, every so often a pure evil villain will arrive and send shivers down the spines of movie-goers everywhere.

The ultimate movie villain, Darth Vader from Star Wars, is as mysterious and dark as any film character in history. Although we do learn things about Darth Vader during the films, he is both physically and psychologically masked and cloaked - adding to the character's haunting menace. From his height (he was played by an actor nearly two metres tall), to his menacing voice which was dubbed over the original actor, Darth Vader is the most iconic movie villain in film history.

To make the ultimate movie villain there are a number of these characteristics that will help to make them memorable, dark, unpredictable and terrifying. Most movie villains will possess some, if not most, of these and will command the viewer's respect and fear. For those villains that possess all of these characteristics and more, we must affirm their status as the ultimate in movie villainy.

It seems almost impossible to imagine now that Star Wars is such a big part of our culture and the history of movies that before Star Wars hit the screens in May of 1977, it was considered to be a long shot to ever get made much less become the huge success that it did. But from the moment George Lucas got the vision for Star Wars and began drafting those early scripts, it was clear this was going to be a movie that would be like nothing that was ever seen before.

George Lucas was not a new kid on the block in Hollywood when he started trying to get his majestic space trilogy, Star Wars, made. While he wasn’t the Hollywood powerhouse he is now, he had some credibility after making the delightful and successful American Graffiti. But even in that early movie making experience, Lucas was showing himself to be a visionary as American Graffiti went on the set in motion the 50s nostalgia trend, was spun off into the successful “Happy Days” TV show and launched the brilliant career of Harrison Ford.

You would think with that success, studios would have seen the genius of George Lucas and embraced Star Wars. But from the very beginning, Star Wars was a gamble. The vision was unique and untried and to studios, that meant risk. Too often innovative and bold film making is not successful at a financial level. Studios like to go with things that are going to make money for sure. That is why studio after studio turned down the chance to make Star Wars, even Universal Studios, who made American Graffiti, passed on it because they said it was a “silly idea.” You can imagine how the studio ate those words when Star Wars took the movie business by storm and netted hundreds of millions of dollars for Fox Studios because they were willing to “take a chance” on George Lucas’s incredible vision.

Star Wars created innovative story telling and movie making ideas that were untried before and so far ahead of their time that we overlook that in these days of movies that are completely computer generated. There is no question that the special effects of Star Wars had a lot to do with its massive appeal. Nobody has ever seen such realistic effects done before. If you can remember the first time you saw Episode 4, the first Star Wars to come out, that moment at the beginning when you see that huge Star Destroyer is one that literally takes your breath away. And the effects just kept on coming until the amazing battle scene at the end where the audience literally felt like they were right there in the fighter with Luke Skywalker, using the force to blow up the enemy star ship and escape as the fireball erupted all over the screen. It was a cinematic triumph.

We can all be grateful that one studio and one amazing film maker were courageous enough to make a movie that was unlike any before it. We, the movie going public, got this wonderful Star Wars series to enjoy and share with our kids for generations to come and the movie industry would never be the same because they took that chance.
